Patch Chrono Trigger Ds Changes

Apr 10, 2018 - Chrono Trigger's first patch is a step in the right direction. On PC over the alternatives instead of just tracking down the SNES or DS version. Game but I just don't see what is so wrong with the graphics before this change.
Chrono Trigger DS has a shitty translation.
I'm not saying this as a hater on all retranslations. I think the new ones for FFIV and Tactics Ogre, for example, are fantastic. But Chrono Trigger's new translation is dreadful, and here is a prime example of why. This is a scene near the beginning of the game, in 2300 AD, right after you discover the video recording of Lavos. Credit goes towards GameFAQs, that's where I found the game scripts.

DOAN: Hope… There's a word I haven't heard in some time. It does have a comforting ring to it, though. I don't know what kind of seed this is, but I'll do my best to grow it.

OK, so the original is clearly better, right? The whole idea that someone doesn't even know what being 'healthy' means, that's how barren the situation is after Lavos destroyed the Earth. The original makes me cry pretty much every time. The remake, on the other hand, is too wordy and uses the wrong words. I know purists like to argue this is what was 'meant' in the original Japanese in the first place, but the fact is the SNES translation is concise and leaves more of an impact. Sengoku rance save data.
Agree/Disagree? How do you feel about Square's retranslations in the past decade or so?
